Hilf Supply Chain Solutions Sponsors Category in the National Transport Awards for Wales

The award ceremony commenced in the Banqueting Hall of Cardiff Castle following a gala dinner. Mr. Lindsay Harding, Director of Hilf Supply Chain Solutions, took to the stage and read the following citation before announcing the winning entry.

“Use of the private car, especially on the school run, has increased dramatically over the last few years and this has an impact on safety, congestion and air quality. One of the solutions is Travel Plans, and School Travel Plans in particular. Children need to be educated to think about other forms of transport and to carry these habits into later life.

This consortium has developed a training scheme for teachers who have learned how to deliver School Travel Plans and this training has given them the confidence to go back to their schools and develop their own School Travel Plans.”

The award went to SWWITCH ( http://www.swwitch.org.uk ) for their entry “School Travel Plan Champion Training”, it was presented by Tamsin Dunwoody AM, Deputy Minister of Transport.

The event, which was chaired by Professor Stuart Cole, was organised by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport ( http://www.ciltuk.org.uk ) in conjunction with the ‘Wales Transport Research Centre’ from the University of Glamorgan ( http://www.glam.ac.uk/sot/1452 ).
